Description

Chloé Locatelli's presentation at the Digital Futures Institute’s Centre for Technology and the Body explored how heterosexual men’s sextech developments replicated desirable features of post-industrial sexual commerce, marking a transition into what she termed “posthuman sexual commerce.” The talk delved into the burgeoning sex-tech industry, which encompasses a wide range of digital products aimed at enhancing sexual satisfaction, such as sex robots, avatars, AI sex toys, and teledildonics. One significant aspect discussed was the potential for sex robots to disrupt human sex work and other sectors of sexual commerce, although the field is still in its early stages. Locatelli's research aimed to examine the intersections between existing sextech and sexual commerce, shedding light on its posthuman implications.
