Visiting lecturer at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, UCD Lectures on: 1.Fetal MRI:safety, patient care and image quality considerations. Learning outcomes: a. to be informed of basic aspects of MR safety in pregnant women and fetuses undergoing an MRI scan in relation to heat deposition and acoustic noise b. to be aware of the anatomical, physiological and behavioural considerations when scanning fetuses in MRI c. to be able to suggest remedial strategies in common image artefacts d. to become familiar with common image quality optimisation techniques 2.Neonatal MRI:safety, patient care and image quality optimisation learning outcomes a. to be informed of basic aspects of MR safety in neonatal MRI scan b. to be aware of the anatomical, physiological and behavioural considerations of the neonatal population c. to be able to suggest remedial strategies in common image artefacts d. to become familiar with common image quality optimisation techniques 3.3T MRI: review of physical principles, artifacts and clinical applications 13:30-14:15 learning outcomes a. to understand the basic principles of high field MRI b. to be aware of safety issues at high field imaging c. to be able to recognise basic image artefacts specific to high field and to suggest correction strategies d. to become familiar with some clinical applications at high field 4.
