Abstract

This study describes and explains the importance of Sardinia's geological origins, landscape, history and culture in the Peruvian Jorge Eielson's post-war writing and visual work; as well as the contemporary links between the latter's search for a modern art connected with the 'primordial' and those of the Sardinian artists Constantino Nivola, Michele Mulas and Maria Lai; and their place among a number of post-war writers and artist embarked in a quest to find in antiquity models for a future modern society.
