Medical Image Acquisition and Processing

I was born in Madrid, Spain. Since I was a teenager I was absolutely fascinated with computers and the early steps of the Internet. I left High School in 2002, with the firm will of becoming a Computer Engineer.

In 2007 I got my degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). After working for a year on Advanced Network Applications with Telefonica R&D I decided that computer networks was not what I wanted to specialise in, and I moved to France to continue my studies and focus on Electronic Circuits. By a series of chance events, in 2008 I spent a year with General Electric Healthcare in Paris (France), working on electromagnetic navigation systems for Interventional Radiology, and discovered that my true passion was the link between computers, circuits and healthcare. In early 2009 I got my degree on Biomedical Engineering from Télécom Bretagne (Brittany, France), and then went to Philips Research in Hamburg (Germany), where I carried out my Master Thesis on Model Based Segmentation of the liver for Radiotherapy Planning. I obtained my Master of Science on Image and Signal Processing at the end of 2009, jointly delivered by Télécom Bretagne and Université de Rennes 1.

I did my PhD at King's College London, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering,  on advanced flow imaging and quantification from 3D echo Doppler. My PhD was completed at the end of 2013. Since then, I am a Research Associate in the same department, working on the coupling of cardiac anatomy and function using ultrasound images.
