Biographical details

Ali Mansourian successfully completed his Ph.D. in Physics at King’s College London under the guidance of Prof. Samjid Mannan and Anatoly Zayats. His work involves the synthesis of organic, inorganic, semiconductor or carbon based heterostructure materials for use as plasmonic, sensor, batteries and power distribution materials. He spent several years working with the Activeplasmonics conducting research on the electrochemical fabrication of metamaterials, with the objective to create the Electrochemical-Optical plasmonic sensor devices. He carried out research and managed several projects related to the application, separation, characterisation, wet chemistry, and synthesis of organic, inorganic nanorods, polyesters, ethers and carbonates, Catastrophic Phase inversion, Transitional Phase inversion, droplet encapsulation and liquid crystal effect on encapsulation processes.

He was a teaching assistant for nine different courses at KCL and his outstanding science communication skills have been proven during the past six years by being a finalist for the “3 Minute talk” competition after winning all seven departments at KCL. He also has a focus on education and has created class materials at MTC Company and King’s College London for the teaching of undergraduate physics students by using plasmonic silver nanoparticles. He then took a research position at KCL in the Department of Physics with Professor S. Mannan, where he developed methods to a novel method of nanofabrication via electromigration in. As Research Assistant KCL he taught second-year Physics lab Course 8.012 for two semesters in the Department of Physics. He was awarded the London Science Festival 2011 from the Institute of Physics. Since 2010, Dr. Mansourian has published 8 journal publications, and 19 conference abstracts/papers/posters, has assisted in 2 patents issued in the US and UK related to electronic and nanotechnology applications and has presented invited seminar talks both in the Cambridge, York, US and Japan.  Solid State & Electrochemistry: Electromigration effect, High temperature Electronics, , Anodization, Electrodeposition, Sensing, Spectroscopy.
 Colloid Science: Microfluidic, Emulsification, Polymerisation, Phase inversion (Catastrophic), Lyotropic Liquid Crystals. Encapsulation process, Drug Delivery.
