Chris Mathews studied Bioinformatics at Queen Mary University of London. After graduating he worked as a data manager at the NE London Diabetes Research Network. He worked with Prof. Graham Hitman on research into fetal programming and epigenetic markers in the maternal in-utero environment.
He worked with Prof. Sue Moss at the Centre for Cancer Prevention, Queen Mary University of London on the analysis of the faecal immunohistochemical testing pilot in the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening programme. This work provided the evidence base for implementation of the new test in 2018.
He currently works for Prof. Peter Sasieni in the Cancer Prevention Group. His focus is on cancer screening. The main project supports Dr. Matejka Rebolj on the data management and analysis of the HPV pilot in the NHS Cervical Cancer Screening Programme. This will support Public Health England in the implementation of HPV primary testing in 2019.
