Biographical details

Dharmintra Pasupathy is currently a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant in Maternal & Fetal Medicine and Perinatal Epidemiology in the Department of Women and Children's Health, King's College London. His clinical practice is at Guy's & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his undergraduate medical training at The University of Liverpool and his basic clinical and core specialist registrar training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bristol and Cambridge. He was awarded the MRCOG in 2004, completed an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2005, successfully secured an MRC/RCOG Clinical Research Training Fellowship in 2006 and was awarded his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2010. He subsequently completed the NIHR Clinical Lectureship and Sub-specialty training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College London, King’s Health Partners.

He currently leads an academic group in perinatal epidemiology and statistics focused on improved characterisation and prediction of adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes in both low and high risk women; specifically related to fetal growth anomalies, maternal obesity and diabetes in pregnancy. This is centred on improving methods of identifying groups at risk with the aim to inform stratification of care and the provision of choice for care in pregnancy and birth. He has active clinical committments in Fetal Medicine, the Diabetic Antenatal Service and in the Hospital Birth Centre.

Dr Pasupathy is currently the Senior Clinical Lead for Obstetrics for the National Maternity and Perinatal Audit (NMPA) the largest quality improvement programme for maternity and neonatal services in the UK.
