Dristy Gurung is the co-investigator and project lead for the NIH funded R01 grant Reducing Stigma among Healthcare Providers to Improve Mental Health Services (RESHAPE, #R01MH120649), and the site lead for the International Study Of Discrimination And Stigma Outcomes (INDIGO) at Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) Nepal. TPO is a non-profit organization working in mental health advocacy, research, capacity building and psychosocial interventions in Nepal. She did her MSc in Global Mental Health from King’s College London and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is currently a PhD candidate at King’s College London with a focus on measuring structural stigma in low and
middle-income countries. She has keen interest in understanding the lived experiences of service users and their roles in stigma reduction and strengthening mental health systems. Her focus is also on promoting inclusivity not just in mental health but also in other areas of global health. She recently worked as a commissioner on the “Lancet Commission on ending stigma and discrimination in mental health”, and chaired the launch event of the commission report, which was hosted by the World Health Organization.
