Personal profile

Research interests (short)

I am an applied academic statistician who works collaboratively with clinicians and scientists to implement best methodology in order to generate robust evidence for improvement in patient outcomes. I joined King’s College London in 2014 and took up the post of Senior Lecturer in Medical Statistics in 2016. My clinical research interests include sexually transmitted infections, eating disorders, spina bifida and health services research. My statistical expertise includes clinical trials methodology and diagnostic accuracy studies, and I am the statistics lead on seven NIHR- and MRC-funded studies.

I develop curricula and lecture on masters courses in public health and physiotherapy, the undergraduate MBBS degree, and a clinical research methods course for early career researchers. While at St George’s University of London, I led the postgraduate teaching programme in statistics and research methods, and was course director for the MSc in Health Sciences. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I co-lead the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) London, as the academic deputy director. RDS London supports researchers in the translation of research ideas into robust grant applications to peer-reviewed funding competitions for applied health or social care research, and we were recently awarded a new £6.3 million contract for 2018-2023.
