I obtained my Degree in Biology in July 2005 at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), and on September of that year I enrolled the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Masters' Degree; during these studies I worked in the group of Prof. Varela cloning, expressing and purifying proteins that act as autoantigens in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Later on I was awarded a fellowship to obtain my PhD in the same lab, where I worked in the Immunology of T1D, including epitope discovery, autoantibodies and galectins. Then, to acquire more immunological skills, I stayed for 6 months in the Immunology Service of the Germans Trias i Pujol Institute on Health Sciences (Barcelona. Spain; oct 2008-mar 2009). I presented my thesis on September 2011 (A with honours). After working a year as a postdoctoral researcher in the same lab I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Barrie de la Maza Foundation, to work as a postdoc in the group of Prof. Peakman at KCL since October 2012. I finally withdrew this fellowship in June 2013 in favour of the Marie Curie IEF, which is my current post.
