Research interests
I am a member of the Wellbeing, Health, Retirement and the Lifecourse (WHERL) academic research project, led by the Institute of Gerontology at King's College London. WHERL is one of the Extended Working Lives consortia grants funded by the ESRC and the MRC.
My work examines how individuals' work and family histories influence the likelihood that they will continue paid work up to or beyond the state pension age in the UK. These histories will also be used to model older people's finances and state of health.
More broadly, I am interested in how health inequalities are generated over the course of people's lives and how these processes vary in relation to the social context. My research explores this theme using a variety of large prospective cohorts from both Western and Eastern Europe.
