Personal profile

Research interests

There are two integrating main themes to my research. First, I am interested in developing distributed and decentralised control and signal processing algorithms for networked autonomous multi-agent systems. The application venue which motivates and guides my theoretical investigations features mobile sensor networks - mobile robots equipped with independent sensing, communication and computational capabilities. Much of the inspiration for this work derives from the familar, but fascinating phenomena connected with biological swarms and flocks. The second of my research themes aims to adapt, develop and apply established and immensely productive ideas and techniques of robust control to novel scenarios and applications, with particular attention given to mixed signal circuits (eg analog-to-digital converters) and reliable and effective control over networks (eg Bluetooth and Wi-Fi).
