    Research interests

I am a Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Paediatrics in the Department of Women and Children's Health at King's College London and Locum Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

I work to investigate the pathophysiology of severe infection in children and severe inflammation following cardiac surgery in infants. I am using "omic" sciences, particularly transcriptomics and mass cytometry in these contexts. We are also aiming to take a "life course" view of our patients in intensive care, acknowledging that the consequences of each admission to an intensive care unit will have profound importance for a patient's long-term health.

My doctoral research (Oxford Vaccine Group/WCHG Oxford, 2017) investigated novel diagnostic tests for childhood pneumonia, and then applied these tests to important epidemiological settings. This work was funded by my Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellowship and was in collaboration with a long-running study of childhood pneumonia in Nepal.
