Patrick Leman

I am Dean of Education at the IoPPN, King's College London, since 2015 (previously interim Executive Dean of IoPPN, 2016-2017). Before coming to King's I was Head of Department of Psychology and Associate Dean of Science at Royal Holloway, University of London. I am a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Higher Education Academy and PLuS Alliance.

My research explores children's social and cognitive development in educational contexts including the links between gender and race and communication and learning. I examine peer relationships and how these relate to inclusion and exclusion behaviour, moral development, cognition and learning in science. My work uses experimental and qualitative approaches to demonstrate how children's emerging knowledge about the world and themselves is influenced by their own and others' social identities in diverse and multicultural contexts. Recently, I have also begun to develop educational and other interventions tp promote positive youth development and the relationship between arts and learning in science and mental health.
