Organized crime and the rise of extra-legal protection in contemporary China, mafias, police corruption, private ordering, guanxi, Asian criminal groups, and the crime-terror nexus.
Peng Wang holds MA degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from King's College London. He started his PhD study in October 2010 and advanced to PhD status in June 2011. He successfully defended his doctoral thesis in November 2013. His PhD study works under the supervision of Professor Ben Bowling, Professor Penny Green, Professor Mary Vogel (University of Manchester), and Professor Qiu Geping (East China University of Political Science and Law). Peng has been awarded the King's International Graduate Scholarship and King's Alumni Scholarship by King’s Graduate School, the Chinese Student Awards and Fieldwork Grant by the Great Britain-China Centre, and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students by the Chinese Government.
Peng is an associate member of the Extra-legal Governance Insitute, University of Oxford. He is also a regular contributor to Jane’s Intelligence Review and a managing editor of the column ‘Global Criminology’ for Issues on Juvenile Crime and Delinquency (青少年犯罪问题), one of China’s top criminology journals. His recent work appeared in The RUSI Journal, Trends in Organized Crime, Global Crime, and Jane’s intelligence Review.
