Antifibrotics, profibrotics and mechanisms of fibrogenesis
Dr. Qihe Xu is Co-Director, King’s Centre for Integrative Chinese Medicine; Senior Lecturer, Department of Renal Medicine; and Faculty member of the MRC Centre for Transplantation and Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, King’s College London.
With some 80 peer-reviewed publications and an H-index of 21, Dr. Xu is a nephrologist and renal cell biologist, with focused research interest in vitamin A derivatives, herbal entities and their roles in inflammation and fibrosis.
Between 2012 and 2014, Dr. Xu has served as Founder Vice President and Vice Secretary-General of the GP-TCM Research Association, an international society and a UK-based charity dedicated to development and dissemination of good practices in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and an Interested Party to the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products of the European Medicines Agency.
Between 2009 and 2012, Dr. Xu was the leading scientist of EU’s first Coordination Action dedicated to TCM research under its Seventh Framework Programme. Besides, he was Chairman, Chinese Students and Scholars Association of Central London (CSSA-UCL, 2002-2003); Secretary-General, CSSA-UK (2003-2004); President, Chinese Life Scientists Society in the UK (2007-2009); and Founder Vice President, the Academy of Life Sciences for Chinese in the UK (2008-2009).
