Becky Roach works on the ERC-funded Ego-Media Project, which examines forms and practices of self representation in new (social) media. Prior to this she completed her doctorate at Oxford University in March 2014. Her thesis explored the interview as a form of literature from the latter half of the nineteenth century through to the present day, on both sides of the Atlantic.
Her first book, on the literary history of interviews, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press and, with Anneleen Masschelein she is co-editing a special issue of Biography on 'Interviewing as Creative Practice' (2018). Her research has appeared, or is forthcoming, in New Media & Society, Textual Practice, Modern Fiction Studies among other venues.
Rebecca's new project, "Machine Talk: Literature, Conversation & Computing", examines the relationship between world literature and computing since mid-century.
