Sónia Gonçalves joined King's College in September 2011 as a teaching fellow in Economics, and the Brazil Institute in 2014 in a joint lectureship appointment with the School of Management and Business. Her main research interests are in the fields of public economics and political economics. She has worked on research projects that analyse the links between public service delivery and participatory democracy, as well as between media and political accountability in Brazil. Her current research project investigates the role and impact of political appointments in the municipal administration on the provision and quality of primary public education in Brazil.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
