Stephen Bach

Stephen Bach is Professor of Employment Relations. He has a BA in Economics and Industrial Relations from the University of Leeds and an MSc  and PhD from the University of Warwick in Industrial Relations. Before joining King’s College, he worked at the University of Warwick.

His principal research activities relate to public service HRM in an international context and changing workforce roles. His research interests include: international migration of health professionals; new ways of working in the public services; human resource management in the health sector; public-private partnerships and the future of public service trade unions. His research has been funded by the ESRC, the Leverhulme Foundation, the Home office (Migration Advisory Committee) and the Scottish Executive.

His books include: Employment Relations and the Health Service (Routledge, 2004) and he is editor of Managing Human Resources (Blackwell, 2005). He is a member of the Editorial Board of Personnel Review and Human Resources for Health. Stephen has acted as an advisor to a number of organisations including the International Labour Organisation; Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development; World Health Organisation and the UN University.
