Biographical details
I am an interdisciplinary biomedical researcher trained in biostatistics, machine learning, maths and biology. Currently I hold a MRC Biostatistics training fellowship, which I am using to study the progression of Alzheimer's disease and how knowledge of this can be used to inform trial design.
My future work will involve Bayesian approaches to modelling heterogeneity in disease progression. These approaches will allow greater sub-typing of diseases, allowing stratified medicine approaches. This work will leverage disease progression marker data from prospective cohort studies, clinical trials and Eectronic Health Records (EHR).
In the long-term I am interested in contributing to the design of Learning Healthcare Systems (www.learninghealth.org), that automatically generate biomedical evidence during routine care. I believe that approaches I develop will be an important component of this, but I am also collaborating with researchers developing the software infrastructure necessary for automated comparative effectiveness research, a cornerstone of the Learning Healthcare System.
