Research interests

Research focussed on reducing the risks of endovascular surgery by improving intraoperative 3D visualisation of anatomy, device localisation and guidance. The group has developed and is trialling an automated 2D/3D image registration to overlay a pre-operative CT scan onto intraoperative X-rays during complex endovascular aortic procedures. Ongoing work is looking at recognising intraoperative deformation of native anatomy and correcting for it using non-rigid registration techniques. The emphasis of this work is translation into clinical use and important aspects of this are the engagement of clinicians into development and testing the operator-computer interface, validation and robustness.
