Research interests

Tomas is interested in International Criminal Law, Transnational Criminal Law, Public International law and International Humanitarian Law. The subject of his PhD research is the liability of arms traders for assisting international crimes.

Biographical details

Tomas was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2011 and holds a BA(Hons) and MA from the University of Oxford and an LL.M from the University of Cambridge, where his thesis was supervised by Professor James Crawford. He has worked in the serious crime department of a leading firm of London solicitors, at the International Criminal Court, and for the United Nations at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. He has also worked in research capacities for Oxford University, the BBC and TED, and completed placements at 2 Bedford Row, Leigh Day & Co., Garden Court Chambers, Derby Crown Court, and the UK Parliament. Since 2009 he has been a volunteer advocate in social security tribunal appeals for the Free Representation Unit.
