Research interests

My research interest is in perinatal brain injury, with specific focus on white matter disease of prematurity. The main focus of the work is understanding the cellular mechanisms behind perinatal brain injury, and involves the acquisition and optimisation of post-mortem MRI of the developing human brain and the investigating the glial and neuronal cell profiles in normal brain development and in perinatal acquired brain injuries as well as in congenital malformations.  With this work we aim to have accurate histological correlations for specific MR signal intensities in the normal developing brain and especially in perinatal pathologies.
