Abstract

Investigates the association between work satisfaction and stress of care staff and the quality of care and well-being of older people in continuing-care settings (nursing homes, residential homes, long-stay wards). The first section of this chapter explores the links between all four variables and highlights shortcomings. The second examines the influence of intervening factors on all four variables. The paper concludes by presenting a hypothetical model grounded in the literature which summarizes expected relationships between work satisfaction, work stress, quality of care, resident/patient well-being and other related variables.
