Abstract
The essay discusses the relationship between Eielson's poetry and paintings as one between his writing (poetry, plays, fiction and essays) and his visual works (painting, assemblages, installations, performances and knots). It explains the ways in which 1940s discussions on art and cultural history in Peru is followed by a process of participation in post-war artistic preoccupations and languages (Geometrism, Nouveau Réalisme, abstract expressionism, materic painting) and contemporary issues such as the Space Race, cybernetics and the atomic treat.
