Abstract
The influence of human rights in foreign policy should not be seen only as a matter of national identity. The recognition of human rights in foreign policy may also be the result of domestic and international processes of socialisation, and it can also be the product of strategic rational decisions. This article presents a model of analysis to assess the role of human rights in the definition of the foreign policy of the European Union and its Member States
