Abstract

A dynamic quality control scheme for a fuzzy quality characteristic is proposed. This scheme is optimised with respect to an economic criterion. It is further characterised by sampling intervals, sample sizes and operating policies that are adaptive, and by the use of prior information. The resultant control policies may ultimately lead to substantial cost reductions, as evidenced by extensive numerical results. The paper further discusses some computational issues that need to be considered during the design of this control scheme.
