On the estimation of spatial length scales in a vessel stirred by a rushton turbine

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A two-point LDA technique has been employed to obtain direct measurements of the integral (Lambda), Taylor (lambda) and Kolmogorov (eta) length scales in the impeller region of a vessel stirred by a Rushton turbine. Accurate knowledge of the Taylor and Kolmogorov length scales is essential to obtain an estimation of the dissipation rate (epsilon) which is a key parameter for mixing in stirred reactors. Furthermore, an investigation has been carried out to determine to what extent the Taylor length scale varies with Re and with the blade angular position phi
