Abstract

The use of exercise (ie, vestibular rehabilitation) to treat dizziness and balance disorders is a specialized area of practice for physical and occupational therapists. It is considered the standard of care for people who have vestibular disorders. Vestibular rehabilitation incorporates a thorough evaluation of the systems involved in balance and the prescription of exercises to treat the impairments identified through the evaluation. There is a growing body of evidence that vestibular rehabilitation improves patients' balance function, activities of daily living, and perception of dizziness
