Abstract
The recent debate about the healthcare assistant workforce within the National Health Service has prompted discussion about the education and training of this staff group.
This article outlines the education and training opportunities available and identifies that, with such a disparate picture nationally, further work needs to be done to ensure HCAs are sufficiently supported to undertake their role to meet the needs of their patients in an evidence-based manner.
