Abstract
This chapter considers aspects of the relationship between: the development and regulation of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques (MRT); critiques of reproductive technologies relating to notions of the “natural”; and women’s interests. It argues that hostility to existing, new and developing technologies increases the difficulties and burdens that women face as they seek to live their working and/or family lives.
