Dr Pesola is a Statistician in the Cancer Prevention Group. Dr Pesola has a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of London. She has worked as a statistician at the Department of Health and subsequently in academia, in the fields of public and mental health.
She joined Prof Sasieni’s team to work as a medical statistician in cancer research. Her research interests at the Cancer Prevention Group are varied. She uses population-based and cancer registry data to estimate the future burden of cancer. She evaluates the effectiveness of screening. She is also involved with Barts CTU as the trial statistician on studies exploring the effect of electronic cigarettes on smoking cessation.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
