Biographical details

Hyunji Kwon joined the department in January 2009 as a Lecturer in International Human Resource Management and Comparative Employment Relations. Hyunji obtained her PhD in Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. Her research centres on comparative employment relations and human resource management in the customer service sectors. Her recent research interest relates to examinations of the influence of institutional changes and actors’ choices on the evolving internal labor markets and the use of flexible work arrangements in Korean banking. She has been conducting comparative research on gendered labor markets in East Asia.
 
Before joining the Department at King’s College London, Hyunji worked at the Korea Labor Institute where she conducted several research projects analysing the growth of flexible work arrangements and its impacts on worker outcomes and seeking its policy implications.
