Abstract
There has been growing attention in the creative economy literature on the opportunities and dynamics of coworking for creative and cultural producers in developed countries. This chapter explores whether these considerations might be also valid for developing countries, with specific focus on Nigeria. Using Google Trends analysis data, we then show the growing interest in coworking in Nigeria and specifically Lagos and Abuja. The chapter presents results from desktop research and primary data collected via an online survey to look at the business model of coworking spaces in Nigeria, highlighting the growth dynamics of the sector and the challenges it faces. Finally, it considers factors that may have influenced the fast growth of coworking in Nigeria and draws conclusions about the results and gives directions for future research.
