The Centre of Robotics Research's (CoRe) activities deal with a broad range of topics, covering:  

  • Robotics and Automation
  • Robotic Surgery and Robotic Rehabilitation
  • Medical Robotic Devices
  • Robotic Handling and Manipulation Systems
  • Kinematics and Mechanisms
  • Artwork inspired mechanisms and robots (Artmimetics)
  • Sensing, Monitoring and Inspection Systems
  • Neural, Cognitive and Biomimetic Systems

CoRe's projects in these areas are funded by the UK Research Councils particularly the EPSRC, the EU and industrial companies such as Ford Motor Company Ltd, RU Robotics, Shadow Robotics, Unilever Research Ltd, Yasakawa Electric Co (Japan), Field Packaging Group, Desoutter Ltd, Seco Aluminium Ltd, Boal BV (Holland), and Tele-Spec Ltd.

Many of the research projects are inter-disciplinary and there are extensive links to industrial companies and universities such as, Imperial College, Bath, Newcastle, Birmingham, Salford, Leicester, Southampton, Loughborough and Birkbeck University of London.
