Research interests
Dr Kate McMillan is an artist and academic whose research interests span a number of specialisms within the field of Contemporary Art. Her research outputs include exhibitions and associated public programs, writing and research into the theoretical concerns of art including postcolonialism, feminism, memory work, and the Anthropocene; as well as structural inequalities in the sector such as gender and racial inequality. McMillan is the author of the well-known annual report commissioned by the Freelands Foundation 'Representation of Female Artist's in Britain'. She lived in Australia for thirty years and this continues to inflect her approach to working.
