Abstract
This essay aims to reflect on the most evident consequences of the dictatorship period on the cultural arena of Brazil, mainly focusing on literature. It briefly introduces, in dialogue with other authors, the legacy writers, the publishing market and readership received in the past decades, going beyond the censorship and the regime’s acts of explicit repression. Specifically, the essay seeks to broach how this legacy can be translated in terms of literary construction, in the current state of Brazilian narrative, including the lyrical approach.
