The Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS) at King’s College London forms one of the largest concentrations of expertise in Hispanic, Lusophone and Latin American studies in the UK. Our research covers a wide range of themes, periods and areas of the world from medieval Spanish literature to Brazilian music, Modern Spanish Poetry to Latin American Visual Arts, Lusophone Atlantic and Islamic history to post-Enlightenment Spanish and Spanish American literature.
The department has a strong publications record as well as being involved in numerous research centres and interdisciplinary projects with other universities and research bodies.
